2004 ford ranger XLT backup camera issues

Just wondering how exactly do I get the backup camera to automatically turn on and off when I shift into reverse. Any help explaining exactly what needs to be corrected is greatly appreciated!

So I can access the backup camera if I exit out of car play and hit the aux feature, but I want the camera to turn on and off when I shift in and out of reverse. How do I get it to do that? The truck is an 04 XLT 4x4 w/o power windows, seats or mirrors, it’s the 4.0 6 cylinder super cab if that helps. Am I wiring the truck incorrectly? I’ve followed instructions from other threads on this site, but I’m just stumped at this point.

Is this an aftermarket system? If so, they usually use the 12V+ from the backup lamps to trigger the camera to come on.

You need to run a wire down to the back up lights Power side. That how I did mine. You have the wiring instruction from the radio correct.

is the power side, drivers side? If so yes it’s running that side, grounded into the upper bulbs, correctly. And yes I did according to instructions.

Power or positive side the the wire. either driver side or pass. you have something wired wrong. Use a test light to see which one has power when you shift into reverse.
