RADIO HELP Please - 1994 Power issue

Please see attached.

Basically, the existing wires are confusing.

I'm good to go except the constant power in? Quite certain the yellow to black and green is wrong.

As is, no power. Please advise. Thank you!

THis is a 94 with the standard radio.
Here is the original brackets.

Black connector is for the 4 speakers, 2 wires each, the grey connector is power and ground

Diagram here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...dio_Wiring.pdf

Full time 12v power(green/yellow wire) is just to keep clock and pre-sets in memory, not to power radio or battery would go dead
Key on power(yellow/black) should be used for radio power and should have 12v with key in RUN and ACC positions

The blue/red wire has 0v to 12v for the back lights in the radio, its power is from Dimmer ****, when park or head lights are on, Interior Lights
Orange/black wire was same thing but was dropped in most years so not there

Ok. I'm still figuring it out. The reference i had said.... Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Green/Purple. I don't have a green and purple.

It looks like my yellow wire and blue wire are wrong.

Kindly, do you know?

Here is the new wiring diagram.

Reflectively I probably should have disconnected the battery before snipping the wires. I heard a pop, like a fuse pop. I checked #15 and the rest of the fuses and they look good so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

If you are following wiring from a non-FORD manual then it won't have correct wire colors for every year Ford vehicle, so ignore any reference to Truck side wire colors
Print the diagram above and use those wire colors

As said if new radio has a clock or pre-set/memory then it needs a constant 12v wire
Use a test light or volt meter to see which one that is from the truck wires, should be green/yellow stripe wire, and connect that to the new radios yellow wire

Then check wire that has 12v only with key on, should be yellow/black wire, connect that to the new radio red wire

You don't have a power antenna so don't use blue wire

I don't see a back light, dimmable power connection so you wouldn't use the trucks blue/red wire

Ground is black/green truck wire, hooked to new radios black wire

Again do NOT use any other wiring diagram for the Rangers wiring, it will be wrong 99% of the time

Thank you Ron.

I followed your advice and the wiring looks good.

The problem is now it looks as no power to the green/yellow striped wire.

I also do not have a fuse diagram and someone just stuffed all 20 amp fuses in some locations. Do you have a fuse diagram and know which fuse to check for the green/yellow striped wire?

Fuse 1 and fuse 11 are for radio power
1 is full time power <<< green/yellow wire

11 is key on power <<< yellow/black

Sure enough is was the fuse. Some weird unmarked fuse was in there as well.

Seems as we are going to replace all the fuses with the right size/amps.

THANK YOU RON! Your help is excellent and greatly appreciated. It's quite confusing with the wire color coding and the fusing being out. THANK YOU AGAIN!
