I have a 2007 XL with the standard AM/FM radio in it and would like to upgrade to the Pioneer AM/FM CD/MP3 deck offered by Ford in 2007 for the Ranger.

I see the Pioneer has an additional connection block on the back. What is this for and will the unit work without this connection in the XL? I haven't taken the AM/FM out yet so I'm unsure if the harness has the necessary connection needed for the AM/FM/CD. Any help would be appreciated.

If it a free radio, give it a try to see. Not sure what the extra plug could be for? May be for an AMP...

 

Just wanted to update here. I installed the AM/FM/CD/MP3 Pioneer unit from Ford and it works like a charm. That other connector appears to be for Auxiliary devices which I have no plans on using anyway. All good.
