My 2008 6 CD player died. Can it be replaced?

The radio works but the CD player won't play anything or change slots. This unit is @3.5" high and 6.5" wide and @ 6" deep. I see repair tips on Youtube, but I'd rather upgrade to have a an I-phone plug-in. Can any of you offer advice on radio/CD player upgrades? And if it can be repaired, is there someone close to Charlotte , NC that can do the job?

It's not worth it. I had the same happen to my 2003 6-disc. First the CD player stopped playing CDs and would just eject them out. After that happened, I was using the radio for a week or two but then the whole unit just started malfunctioning. You're better off replacing it. Visit Crutchfield.com and find the car audio tab. Click on it, and then click on "Find what fits your vehicle". Type in your vehicle info and then browse through all the items they list. Most of what they list should fit your truck with minimal modification. They even offer a service where they will connect your new receiver's harness to an adapter harness that will allow you to plug the new radio right into your stock wiring harness with no other modification needed. This would allow you to pretty much install the new radio yourself, with the only modification required by you being the trimming of the radio bezel which may or may not be needed, depending on the radio you choose.

Keep in mind, with an '03, you're dealing with 20-year-old technology. My '02's 6-CD player was replaced three times under warranty. None of them could be relied on to eject a CD. I push the button, and maybe a week later one CD sticks out. Another two weeks for the next one. I finally gave up on it.

Go mechless with enough built-in memory, or the ability to slip in a memory card, to play your tunes collection and can bluetooth to your phone.

Get one with Carplay, most of them come with it now anyway it seems like it. Definitely a great upgrade, first thing i did when I got my truck was order a Kenwood Android Auto/Apple Carplay head unit, it's great, and I got free install with Best Buy, even better.
