its hooked into the remote wire on my headunit. i think its blue with a white stripe. what wire did u end up using?

 

Check the remote wire output at the headunit for voltage.

Those remote turn on lines only supply 200mA or so, so even a momentary touch to ground will fry the turn on circuit in the head unit. I know of someone who had 4 amps and two external processors and he fried the head unit (he should have used a relay to turn on all the extra stuff he had.)

 

i had a problem with the remote wire diameter being to small. not enough current to tell the amp to turn on.

 

yeah i upped the gauge when i replaced it but didnt fix it. i honestly have no idea what to even check anymore. its not the amp i think ive ruled that out

 

what about the main power wire to the battery? is it a fuseable link?

 

it has a fuse yeah. the power and ground are fine. its something either in my headunit or amp. idk which

 

this is easy to figure out. take a working amp and hook it to your system. if it turns on, its your old amp, if it doesnt turn on, start with a volt meter and check for power. not oh its connected power, actual power. if you have power, take your headunit to wherever you bought it and say it doesnt work. if it has no warranty, buy a new head unit and hook it up. also check your RCA cables. you may have tosted em without even knowing it.

CHECK WITH KNOW WORKING PARTS. AND DONT FORGET, IF ITS A NEW AMP, YOU HAVE TO ADJUST THE DIALS ON THE SIDE FOR IT TO MAKE ANY SOUND.

 

Could be the wrong remote wire, a lot of times aftermarket units will have a remote wire for a power antenna, and one for the amplifier. they don't function the same, if there is another remote wire, I would try that one.

actually, i just reread your original post, sounds like you had the right wire, but you just somehow blew the remote output on the head unit.

 

every headunit I've had, the remote wire is all blue?

 

this is my 3rd diffrent sub/amp set up and ive never had problems. and this one worked perfect for about 2 months.

 

x2, But I just looked up his radio and it is indeed a blue/white wire on his.

The only advice I can give you if everything else is checking out is to just hook the remote turn on wire into the 12v switched power to your radio. Then you'll know if it's the wire or the remote turn on on the radio.
