bought a W6v2!

I just bought a single 10 JL audio W6v2 and I'm running it off a p3001 amp which puts out around 350 watts. It sounds a lot better than my two 8" P2's. It is a lot deeper, louder, and more accurate than my 8s ever were. The only problem I have with it, is that it pops a little at mid to high volumes. Is this because it needs to break in, or am I feeding it too little power, or is the box too big or small? I'm really not sure. If it needs to be broken in, how would you suggest I do so? Thanks.

run it on low volume and low on the amp for about two weeks and then try again. its not the box, maybe the amp but try the break in.

W6's don't have much of a break in period, or any at all. What some people don't know is, W6's don't need alot of space. They're a small box woofer, 0.6 cu.ft. sealed, 0.75 ported. Depending on the box, it could be part of the problem. Where's your amp gain?

I think my gain was up too high. I messed with the amp settings and the headunit and it sounds much better. Now I'm thinking about upgrading to the 500.1 amp. Overall, I love the sound quality of the sub. It doesn't break mirrors, but at least I can still hear the music which was my ultimate goal anyways. Oh, I also got my pioneer 6x8s installed too and now I can hear the highs and mids much better. The $500 investment was definitely worth it. I'm glad I didn't get two P2's.

what 500.1 amp is it? I have never used them, myself, but the JL 500/1 is a great amp. Kinda spendy, though. Around $550-$600 retail.

Nice! I'm jealous! The shop I work for doesn't carry JL anymore. So unless I wanna pay full price for 'em. But why do that when I can get Alpine, Kicker, Rockford & others for cost + 10%.
