i thought up an idea for a custom speaker box, i havnt seen it done yet.. tell me if itll work. ok first you take everything off like the back panels and the bed of the truck, then you figure some sizes and cut a hole in the back of your cab all the way through, then make a metal box and weld it around the hole you just cut, the box sized for the right cu. ft. for a sub.. then cut the bed of the truck a few inches larger than the box (so it doesnt rub) then make another box that will fit in the bed but is bigger than the box on the cab.. maybe on the top of the beds box make a toolbox or tray or somthing. then on the inside cut the back panel so it fits around the speakers, put everything back together and your done.. you now have flush mounted subs, taking up no room in the truck.. only problem i can think of if you lose a little bit of cargo space in the bed...

another idea is to take the seats out and cut a hole under where they go, make a box that you weld on the underside of the truck, drop the sub in and put it back together, and again another flush mounted sub, only problem with the floor one is things may roll under your seat and onto the subs... and idk whats under the cab, things might be in the way..

has anyone done either of these? will they work? any other ideas???

 

I've heard of people with show trucks and big systems cut the cab and bed to fit bigger boxes. I've never seen it in person though.

 

the cutting the back wall and building a box in the bed is called a blowthrough, been around for years, used for if you want SPL in a truck so you can get a large CF box. and the under the seat this is reatarded DONT DO IT. but if you want to the the blow threw it isnt that easy it is really hard. you have to build a box that will fit and then build a trim ring that will slide around or in the other box. each piece will have the port incorperated into them then you need an HVAC expansion joint to account for the flexing and movement of the bed and the body. not to mention you ruin your truck. they are HARD and time comsuming. i havent done one. someone wanted me to do one but i turning it down.

 

Through the bed is called a blow-thru, its done a lot on show trucks.
