Damn remote wire!! Help Please.......

So I've spent a large amount of time wiring up a new amp and sub set up on my sisters explorer (xmas present) and everthing is done, but the remote wire is no working, I had it on the wrong wire (illumination) so switched to the yeallow and black ingnition 12v wire and it still isn't working. Its a new amp and I even tested it on my setup and it works.

Anyone got an idea as to why the remote wire is still not working or had the same prob?

Thanks for the input in advance.......

FIXED NOW< THANKS

First, jump 12v constant over to the remote input at the amp and make sure the amp works. If the amp works use a multimeter to test if the head unit is producing 12v to the remote wire while the ignition is on. If there is no 12v then the head unit is not producing a remote signal. In this case you could tap into the wire that tells your head unit to turn on and connect that to the remote wire.

there is a setting in most aftermarket radios that turn the subs on and off....acts like a switch for the remote wire...

Got it fixed, just so tired that I forgot I had had the person helping me take the fuse outta the power wire so I could disconnect it and lay it down without having sparks fly. So it the remote wire works now on the yellow and black wire like it by all means should. Thanks for the help though.

Put in 2 10 infinity reference, sealed box, and sony xplod 1600w amp, sounds pretty good, nothing crazy though.

you should really put it back on the blue wire on the radio's wiring harness....that is really were the remote wire should be.....that is what the blue wire is designed for....with it on that wire you can controll the amp power from settings inside the radio...

I messed with it for a sec and using the bass on the radio I could turn it up and down, I used the high level input, not rca's and its a stocky radio too. But if I go back in there I'll have to swap it anyway........

huh? that wire wont turn a amp off from settings in the HU, "IF" your HU has sub cutoff the HU will just mute the sub out RCA's, and remote wire cant add or take away bass or anything of the such, it just ouputs 12v+ when you turn the HU on and its going to always ouput that, ive never see one to turn remote wire off

also he has a stock radio. unless your car has an amp external to the stock radio i wouldn't think it would have a remote wire (blue wire)
