Double Din Pioneer install

Put in a new Pioneer stereo this afternoon, modding the dash was easier than expected, used a Dremmel to grind the upper and lower lips off. Used the kit that Crutchfield sent with the radio. All went quite smooth and start to finish took me just over an hour, although I'm not inexperienced, it's just been a few years since I've done an install!
Still need to do the back up cam. It's the Pioneer ND-BC8
Just wondering where the best spot would be for placement.

I used a license plate frame with built in cam. Click the YouTube link on double din on my post.

I've done dozens of head unit installs and custom speaker/amp mods in the past, but there was no such thing as double dins back then so it was a bit different but not much.
Backup cams are a new ball game for me though. More worried (probably for nothing lol) about getting the mounting location correct than the wiring part. I've seem some interesting ideas out there.

The sad part on the license plate camera's is, they are cheap China made units and they only last about 2 years. I thought about the F150 Large Ford emblems but would require some body work filling the small holes of the small Ford emblem.Mine needs replaced again. 2 in 5 years.

Yeah that's why I went with the Pioneer model, and it was on sale when i bought the radio so it was a no-brainer! From what I've seen online in videos, I don't really need to hook the purple/white wire on the head unit to anything unless I want the camera to automatically come on when reversing? The head unit will allow me to get a camera view at the touch of a button without hooking up the purple/white, or am I missing something?

So far I've bought the Pioneer AVH-601EX head unit, a BEST BKFMK552 mounting kit, a Metra 70-1771 wiring harness. The head unit came with a surface mount camera which I don't want to use. I've been trying to find a tailgate Ford emblem camera that replaces the stock unit on my tailgate but have been unable to find one. I really do not want to use a license plate holder camera. I think it would soon be too dirty to be useful if driving on salted or muddy roads, possibly even just wet roads.
Any suggestions or guidance is appreciated.

Camera

I have bought two of the Pyle license plate cameras in 2 years off eBay. I have also seen the Ford emblem cameras on eBay. I use mine mainly for backing out my garage, because I have a sidewalk that is the end of my driveway and lots of foot traffic and baby strollers. Don't trust it for tight parking spaces,I usually far away from the business doors to avoid door dings.
