Experienced opinions wanted on HU install
I'm new to installing car audio equipment personaly. I have had stuff installed in the past, but thats it.
I have a 2008 Ford Ranger Sport supercab.
I just bought a double din JVC xr810 head unit. I also have a "bestkits' 98+ ford harness adapter.
The new head unit has one orange wire marked "to light control stwitch"
the ford harness has 2 wires, one marked "dimmer +" and the other "dimmer -"
Should I hook up the orange wire to dimmer + or just leave it unhooked?
Literaly everything else just wired up exact, like all the speaker wires, ground, power, constant power, etc, just not the lighting wires.
Also, my factory head unit has the 20 pin harness connected in the back, but I dont have a disc changer or factory amp. Would it be used for the factory sirius radio module it has? Could I just leave it unhooked?

When i hooked mine up, I don't believe I did anything with the dimmer/lc switch wires. Your head unit should have dimmer settings on the unit itself. I'd just tape off those wires.
And your 2nd harness is for the sirius radio. If you don't want to use it in your new head unit (you'll likely need an add-on module for it anyway) then yes, you can just leave it unhooked.
