I just ordered two sets of foam baffles for my 6x9's, and recieved them yesterday. They are a bit flimsy, which is fine, because they are mainly for keeping the bass from vibrating the sheet metal. However, I have an idea and I'd like to get some feedback if it would work or not. If I were to put on about .125" - .25" of fiberglass around the foam ballfles would that give me better sound than just having the foam baffles alone?

Also, I ended up ordering 4 too many because I didn't understand that they came in sets of 2. If anybody would like a set or two, let me know.

 

 

i think that would make the airspace way to small and ruin the sound of the speakers... atleast with just the foam, it can still sort of penitrate it enought to keep soild sound, but depending on how much airspace will be behind the speakers i dont think it will sound good...

 

Might work, but I'd try it with the regular baffle first. I'm not sure if your speakers were designed to be in a totally sealed small environment.

The good thing is that you have some spares on hand, so why not try the idea on the extra baffles.

 

They are flexible to accomodate more applications, but still contain the airspace enclosure to an acceptable amount. I think it would help to stiffen them up but only the lower frequencies but I personally wouldn't worry about it unless you don't have a separate sub.
