are baffles needed on 6X8 door speakers??? what for???

2010 ranger xl regular cab 4 cyl.

I am still trying to decide if I should go with the 6 X 8 kenwoods 79.99 or the 6 X 8 Rockford fosgates 69.99 from crutchfield?? Are those baffels that crutchfield sell are those necessary>??? what are they for???? Will I have to make a small hole in the bafffles for the wires?? If I dont get the baffles I will put weather stripping around the edges of speaker mounting area to avoid metal to metal mounting.....

not sure what baffles your talking about but no you dont need anything between the speaker and the frame of the door... i do however like to put a layer of foam inbetween to cut down on vibrations

I got 6x8 kenwoods. Great speaker! And I also have the baffles in the front doors. I personally wouldn't buy them again. Don't notice any difference
