Head unit error message
Head unit error message
I’m not sure if this has something to do with a problem with my truck’s head unit wiring harness or just my head unit. I have an 02 Ranger FX4 that I have had several different stereos in. I just recently installed a double-din Kenwood touch-screen head unit in my truck about a month ago. Had no issues installing. Today I get a “Miswiring DC Offset Error” message on the screen and the stereo wouldn’t even let me use the touch screen. I googled some answers and checked my wiring harness for any exposed wires-found none, checked all 4 speakers to see if they were blown-all were good, and replaced the h/u wiring harness. None of them solved the issue. Luckily I had a warranty on the stereo so I got it replaced but still came up with the same issue which makes me believe something with the wiring in the truck is wrong. I checked all connections and checked for any exposed wires probably 15 times. I’m stumped. Anybody else had this issue? Is there a certain point in the wiring harness that may chafe or become exposed over time and cause a speaker wire to short out? I’m not big into wiring so anything will help.
“Miswiring DC Offset Error" is a speaker wiring issue as you said
No common place but.......... in the door speakers do have more likely spot than body speakers, the door hinge wires get moved all the time, whenever door is opened and closed.
And Drivers door is used the most.
You need to get an OHM meter, or you will just be searching blind.
Pull out the radio and test the speaker wires for short to body ground.
So one wire of OHM meter attached to a good Body Ground
Then touch other OHM Meter wire to each speaker wire
0 OHMs is a short to Body Ground
Do you know the name of the guy who started the Kenwood company?
well it was Ken Wood, lol, true
