Help - Pioneer Head Unit Sub Controls Not Functioning

Hey everyone,

So yesterday I finished hooking up my new system. I have a Pioneer headunit (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1303200...B.html?tp=5684) hooked up to a Kenwood amp (http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KAC-81.../dp/B0012Z1M18) with a 10" Kenwood Sub. I checked all the connections several times and checked to make sure the sub is working. The amp lights flash on when I turn the car on so I know the amp is working too. I think my problem is with the headunit settings. Whenever I go to change the SW Control on the headunit from Rear SP/Full to Preout/Sub, the head unit reverts back to Rear Sp/Full. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated especially if anyone has any experience with this head unit or a similar Pioneer.

Thanks

sounds like the amp is faulting out if you look at the lights one should state power that light should be on all the time with the radio on. My guess is the other light is a fault or an overload. I am sure the red light is the power Check your AMP manual to determine which light means what you might have a wire in the wrong place somewhere. the amp should turn on with the head units POWER ANTENNA. wire not the key. if the head unit is on the power light on the amp should be on.

Sounds to me like you need to read the users manual for your headunit, if the preamps are switching back from sub to sp then that is your problem, figure out how to press enter properly, also read up on your amp and make sure the proper lights are on

So I must have grounded the amp wrong the first time because I changed the ground and now the red and blue lights on the amp stay on when the head unit is on. I thought this would have solved everything but when I went to the SW Control on the head unit it still changes from Preout/SubW back to Rear Sp/Full. I'm not sure if you are familiar with this head unit but in order to access the menu you must first turn off the head unit, then hold the center button until the menu pops up. When I turn the head unit off to enter the menu, the amp also turns off. Since the amp turns off I'm thinking that the head unit doesn't detect the preout connection so it keeps changing back to the rear speakers. I thought I might have been entering the setting incorrectly like BLK02 suggested but I can change the setting from Rear Sp/Full to Rear Sp/SubW but not to Preout/SubW. I know the amp and sub are both working but now I'm sure the problem is coming from the head unit settings. Any ideas?

Did you buy the HU used?, can you switch either of the two preouts to sub control? If so try using the other pair

I bought it new. I can switch from Rear Sp/Full to Rear Sp/SubW which sets the rear speakers as the "subwoofer" so instead of turning the sub on and off, you can turn the rear speakers on and off. I already tried switching all the rca cables to make sure I wasn't making that mistake.

Pushed the reset button on the head unit and everything is fully functional. Lots of stressing over one push of the button
