I think I blew a speaker

Hey guys,

I think I blew my front left speaker today. It still has sound coming out of it but makes a scratching noise when the base hits. Also, the sub doesn't seem to hit as hard on bass-heavy songs since this happened, which is strange because I haven't changed any of my settings in a while and it'll be normal for other songs.

I didn't know that a blown speaker would still have sound coming out of it so I was a little confused at first. I ended up checking the fuse for the sub thinking it was that but saw that it was still good so I checked the amp afterwards, it was good too...

Anyways, now I gotta wait for the rain to go away so I can pull the door apart and take a look, hopefully it's just a loose connection to the speaker. When playing music, the sound seems a little muffled, but the scratching is ONLY there when the base hits hard.

Frank

sounds like you ripped your voice coil or the slide. Either way its a good time to upgrade. BTw, are you on the Ontario Ranger Club page? I dont recall you being there.

Yeah I am on the page, and the forum as well.

I ordered a new speaker. They don't make the model I have anymore so I went with the newer version.
