just wanna see what you guys think

hey guys so i currently have a alpine cde-102 HU and i just have enough money to get a sub and amp and here is my narrowed down decision...im getting the alpine type-r 12 dual 4ohm and debating between the kenwood 9105d and the alpine mrp m1000 ...im leaning towards the kenwood because its more of my price range...any help appreciated as always..

You make it sound like you are getting one sub? If so both of those amps are overkill..

You could get those amps, and save some more and later get another sub. I think that would be a great idea IMO. But you would have to turn the amp down quite a bit and same with the HU settings, until you get another one so you can peak your **** out and shake down your hood :)

Keep in mind that Alpine Type R sub is a dual voice coil... just saying. Takes quite a bit of power to make those sound good.

Type-R's don't like 1300 watts... Just saying haha get the amp that Josh recommended. The guy I bought my Type-R from was powering it with one of those and it sounded great.

LOL I hooked a Type-R up to my MB Quart and it didn't really like it that much. It got a little too hot but it still works fine.

And you want to hear my system? Or are you talking about somebody else?

Is it bad that I always try to power my speakers with an amp that is rated DOUBLE the speakers' RMS wattage or more if possible?

Amplifier headroom is a very good thing to have. Better dynamic response, better cone control, lower distortion, better sound, cooler more efficient longer lasting amps, makeup for overrated specs, etc...

I would recommend a much larger amp. or a different sub that doesn't need so much power.

also dont forget that the kenwood is rated at 14.4v. Also rated being keyword. I would like to see if it actually puts that out.

Realistically, I dont see it putting much more than 500-600rms on our electrical system. Thatis if it even likes the 2ohm load.

I had that amp years ago (a few versions ago) and at 2ohms, it would overheat in about 10 min. Look up the reviews on the amp. You will see im not making this up. I just remembered this weekend I was talking to a friend who got out of the car audio deal because he kept on having issues with his amp which happened to be a kenwood.
