Are Kicker SoloBaric Subs louder than the other Kicker Series? I am looking into two 15" SoloBaric L7's but I noticed that the Comp VX's had a bigger sensitivity and I read somewhere that the higher the sensitivity the more bass you have. Is that true? I really like the L7's but the Comp Vx's or VR's aren't out of the question. I also have a 2400 watt Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp. Is that going to be enough power for the subs and all of the speakers except tweeters? What kind of box would be the most effecient and give me the best sound overall whether it be vented or sealed doesnt matter and I don't need it to bust my rear window!!!

One last question: How does someone tune a box and what is involved in tuning a box for 15's to like 32 hertz? Is it the less Hertz the more bass or what? I never really understood that. Thanks for all of your help.

 

im not 100% sure on the tuning thing..

but the L7s are the 2nd best they make comin in 1st is the solo X subs..id go with the L7s hands down

 

good luck gettin good bass out of em in a ranger. Ive planed mine out already... 6 cubic ft. box tuned to 30 htz. and that is for 1 15. Plus if you go with 2 of them that would be a big *** amp (0 gauge wire) and you would have to upgrade the alt.

sell that amp and get a hifonics amp

 

with the L7s i would not reccomend underpowering them at all. they crave power

 

OK since an amp and alternator upgrade are not an option what are your opinions on the l7 12" i still need info on tuning to hertz. ALso noone has answered my sensitivity question and I am still somewhat confused.

 

sensitivity is how effecent a sub is...

honestly, if you are going all out on gettin a nice sub, dont go cheap on the amp.. this is the setup im doing...

well this is an amp that i have at my disposal and it seems like a nice amp and i didnt want it to go to waste. I heard Hilfonics were very expensive. and on the sensitivity the higher the number the more it pounds making it more effecient?

 

The L7's and the CVX's are the same sub, just one square and one round. Both very loud!

Go with a rockford fosagate amp. Me Im going to go with 1 15" kick L7 series sub. sub is rated at 1000watts at 4 ohms. along with that will be the rockford amp http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...7&locale=en_US which is 1000watts rms bridged to on cannel. but havent found a box yet. thats my set up so far.

 

on the audio forums thats what they recomend. Hell, i got my hands on a kicker manual that gives designs n **** and it wanted 6 cubic ft. I thought that was a bit much

 

How come you are making your boxes that big? On Kicker's site it doesnt even say that big. So now i need to know if 2 12" L7's will be better than 2 15 L7's?

 

jesus how much bass do you need? I have one 10' Kicker Comp in a ported Kicker box with a Kicker 350W amp and it's more than enough. that's just me though. I've also noticed in rangers, when the windows are all the way down, the subs sound a LOT nicer.

 

the L7s have more surface area though.. and it allows them to push more air than the cvx's.

and as far as the 12 or 15..
it probably just depends on what type of music you listen to.
i believe the smaller the sub the tighter the sound.
i could be wrong though.

 

I had 2 12" L5s in my ranger with a HUGE box and a Rockford p4004 amp bridged, not bad untill the amp blew. Now i have 1 12" L7 im trying to work into the truck but i cant find the right box, i think i want ported but i want to have atleast one jumpseat in the back.

 

Thats because it acts like a ported bot and lets more air flow. same way with mine.

 

ok heres the deal....the cvx is infact a close second to the L7. it really depends on the type of sound you are looking to produce. the L7 will give you a lower base but the cvx will "hit" better all around, it also requires less airspace. as far as putting 2 15s in the back cab i would not recomend it. 2 12s in the end will sound much cleaner and crisper, due to airspace. the 4 ch amp, will be better off sold. you need a mono or 2 channel for the subs. for your highs i would recomend a 4 channel of atleast 400 true watts of power when ran at 4ohms....this means that on the amp ratings it should be around 800 watts at 2ohms... but considering that door speakers are ran off 4 ohms, that what you want to look for.....any other questions..just ask.

and if you try and fit 2 15's you gotta be 4 foot nothin with the seat right up.. there is NOT enough airspace in teh cab of a ranger for 2 15's let alone 2 12's it will sound like **** till the windows are open..i have them and there LOUD AS HELL with 2 1000 watt amps and an upgraded 130amp alt cause i blew up the stock 95 to crap..and dinomat EVERYTHING cause everything will come lose aftertime...any questions feel free to email me or add me to messnger....dakinbryce@hotmail.com

 

Its all about the install. I have a single 10" L7 in my F150 and its probably cleaner and louder than almost everyone on this site. 4ch amps can work ok to run subs but usually you will not have as much power and it will draw more current from your battery. Even somthing simple like a 12" L7 in a 1 cube sealed box will sound great as long as you have the needed power.

 

just saying if I was looking to sound great L7's wouldnt be at the top of my list, even sealed
