Hey i am going to put some offroad lights on my ranger and i was wondering if anyone could inform me with where is a goog place to mount the light switches. And if anyone has mounted a switch panel in the trucks anywere and were did you get it.

 

my friend has made a custom wedge box out of the clear stuff some sub boxes are made of (drawing a serious blank on the name right now). it holds some switches. my two hellas are controlled by a switch that is mounted in the shelf that is above my radio. you only have that shelf if you have an aftermarket headunit. you could also put something in that area by the airbag switch. i have also found a hole on the right side, underneath the steering wheel, it is located right before where the dash bends down.

I cut an new hole in the radio bezel for a second factory foglamp switch to control the aux lights.

that is a very clean way to do things, if you have the ability to cut the bezel like that..

i say put simple on/off switches under the steering wheels somewhere....basically, somewhere out of plain sight, that can be accessed easily, but not turned on at random by legs, etc...

Hey thanks for the input but i was looking in a jegs catalog and i stumbled across the switch panels and i was curiouse if anyone has ever seen one of those in a truck.

 

although if u can/want to, the radio bezel is by far the coolest/best, but if your looking to hide the switches or want an easier place i put them here:

 

I put five on the center console and one on the bezel

 

Hey thanks that is a good idea but i have a manual **** and i don't really have that much room on the consol so i think i am going to get a switch panel from Painless Performance.

 

Center console, I would be turning lights on and off randomly without knowing it

 

I'll say it again, hot-damn! That is one sweet setup. Someday I'll get around to trying my hand at something like that..
Second that..

I cheaped out. After having the switches dangling by their harnesses for like 6 mo, I finally 'installed' them by drilling holes on the top-inside of the little cubby hole next to the key switch for disabling the passenger airbag. They are completely out of view and I activate them by feel. I chose blue LED rockers that look exactly like the ones Neil has. You can just barely tell they are activated by the glow that eminates from inside the cubby. I have three switches installed, all linked to relays for doing the heavy lifting. The first enables the A/C via George's A/C Mod. The next switches the stereo from the keyed circuit to an always hot accessory circuit so I can run the stereo w/o the key, and the last enables the KC's as suplimentary high beams. Overall it works pretty darn well. Just gotta remember (or figure out by trial/error) which switches do which..
