need help running power cables for amps.
Tomorrow I am going to throw in my amps and subs but wanted to know if anyone knew the best place to run the power cable from the battery to the rear (2003 ext cab 4 door fx4). It was pretty easy with my old 89 becouse the battery was on the passenger side but with my new pickup its on the left..
If anyone know of a hole already in the firewall please give me a shoot. And how do i get my door sile trim up without breaking it...
thanks..

I ran 4g from battery, right along fenderwell, through firewall (there's plenty of space to get in a drill a nice hole or 2 out), under bottom door moulding, mine comes up really easy, pops out with some force, the 4g can sit under the moulding behind the clips. I took it the whole way to the rear of the ext cab, around the back of my system box and to my amp. It's easier than you'll expect. Actually now, my 4g that i first put in is my ground and I put a 0g in under the cab and drilled a hole for that where one of the jumpseats were.
I've taken my door trim off at least 10 times, it still fits perfectly and never broke a clip or anything.

Its kinda hard with a new truck i dont want to break anything. I guess i will just take it slow.

I understand.
I have an 01 so everything should be the same. I found a large spot in the firewall to the left of the brake pedal and right above the carpet on the inside. I have 2 holes there with 4g, no problems.

I just dremeled my own hole in the firewall, installed the proper size grommet and ran my 0 awg cable through that. Dabbed a little silicone around it and it's watertight. Total cost about 1.50 for the grommet which any stereo shop should have, and it's done right.
I don't see why anyone is drilling holes unless they used up the rubber grommit. Just pop it out/cut it open, and stick it thru. Then run to sill plate, prop up sill plate with screwdriver and tuck the cable under.

Thats where I ran my 2 Gauge wire through on my old set up.
