Whats the extra wiring for

Im putting a new H/U in my truck. I bought a harness for it and there are only 9 wires that actually line up with wiring from the stock connectors. Ive had it al together and I have power and memory to the unit, but I cant get any sound. I assume this means that my speakers arent connecting to the right wires.

Also I pulled the cover off the left rear speaker and checked the colors at it. I have also seen the chart that is stickied on this forum. Those colors for the left rear do not match what is on the connector from my stock unit. The wires dont change colors part way through the truck do they? I guess Im going to go trial and error and forget the harness.

Thanks
DanO

Trial and error usually works....if you've got the patience. Other wires you mean coming off the head deck? Mute wires for cell phones, dimmer wire, could be anything.

Thanks, yeah I goofed up. I had everything done right, and I had the correct harness. I just didnt think that I needed the amp power wire hooked up being a stock system and all. Well I went back to Circuit City and asked and they looked at my truck and told me I need to hook up the 2 blue wires, so I did and its all good now. Now I just need to button everything up and save up some scratch for some new speakers, and other goodies.

The remote wire sometimes has to come from the power antenna wire. No need to split it since the ranger doesn't have a power antenna. Sometimes there's a remote lead and a power antenna lead.

Its done. Im thinking about putting some stainless in place of the black laminate I used up top, but I had to post a pic, because whats the point in telling about something without pics.

If I ever get enough $ Id like to turn the jumpseats into sub boxes of some kind. I have to carry rugrats back there so I cant get rid of the seats, Id just like to make something that they could sit on that would function as a box.

No my stock radio was just the regular system. I do not blast it up too much, unless I want to overpower the rodents in the back. The stock speakers are doing allright for now, but I will probably replace them soon with something a little better. Then someday I might go for subs. Im a cheapskate and I usually feel too old. Maybe Im building this truck for one of the kids someday though (hmmm idea to get financial backing from the wife by using that excuse)
