Overhead console question

I want to pick up an ohc this weekend from an explorer, looking at images it looks like most come with the factory compass, my question being is what all is needed for the compass and temperature portion to work, is it a built in module inside of the console? or do you need another module for it to function.

I have a super awesome concept for altering it, and adding in a few goodies

Any helps appreciated.

Everything is inside the console except for the temp sensor at the front of the Explorer... I think it's somewhere behind the grille or headlight? Get the pigtail for it as well as the one that goes to the OHC and you'll be fine!

Would anyone possibly have a picture of the temperature sensor that would be just awesome, or any more specific description of where to find it? Is there a write up anywhere on here for wiring up the console?

No prob, I had it in my bookmarks as I just put mine in a few weeks ago! Any other questions just ask.. but that How-To has pretty much everything covered. Once you get the first cut into the headliner it's easy! Just make sure you make the hole small first and trim it larger a little bit at a time!

Would you happen to have a measurement of the total width where the display is located? Trying to do as much planning in advance as i can.

What do you mean? Do you mean trying to locate where to cut the headliner to mount the bracket?

No i was just curious if anyone knew how wide the front end of the console was where the display is, i want to try and mount something else into it in place of the display and knowing how wide it is would give me much better idea on what i have to work with.

WHO ARE YOU AND WHATS WITH THE THIRD DEGREE?!?!?!

haha just kidding, got it all at the you pull it yard this morning, some of it may have not been reflected on the bill due to it being questionably misplaced completely accidentally behind and or under my tool box. lol

I can however say that a console and a visor were legitimately paid for.
