I've been looking into getting subs for the truck but i want them to be out of the way cause i have an extended cab and i use the back alot i found some powered subs on crutchfield and wanted to know if someone had tried these or if there are any better ideas. idealy im looking for something that will fit under the front two seats. I really dont want to spend more than $500 i really would like to keep it at $400 though.

this is a link to one of them i found. I was thinking one under each seat. Also i've never wired a sub before all i've done is switch out the stock radio for an aftermarket JVC one thats in my truck now.

 

A pricetag of 400 dollars for a pair of those seems hard to conceive considering for the same price and a little imagination you could have something much more satisfying, myself iv only had 1 customer who specifically wanted a powered subwoofer, it was some kenwood all self contained thing with 2 woofers in it, it was pretty much just "ok" it didnt blow my mind, the volume was pretty limited even in a single cab truck but it did help out on the low end more then just the interior speakers ever would.

Im trying to find something that has a good amount of thump but i dont really want to spend too much money. Those powered subs just seemed like they would be an easy install and decent sounding. But has anyone tried that enclousure? Like i said i use the back all the time so i want it to fit nicely and not take up too much room.

 

powered subs aren't going to hit the range of sounds you are looking for, like the thumping sounds. i like that custom fit mtx sub, but then again its just 10's. MTX brand is alright but that's not my first choice. Those are fine in general but 10's hit the short thumps while 12's will hit the long thumps, if that makes any sense to you?

look for a small vented / ported sub then you can wire up an amp under one seat and put the sub under the other.

 

well im having trouble trying to find something that will fit without giving up a seat. Im really new to audio so i appreciate all advice. Does the shape of the sub make a difference between square and circle?
