powered subs
powered subs
What are some of you running for a powered sub(the ones with built in amp)? I don't want to blow my ear drums but I want that little extra sound the bass gives. Any and all ideas would be great.
Most people that run something like what you're talking about run the Infinity Basslink. Personally, I would just buy something like a 10" or a 12" sub in a pre-built box and run about 500w to it.
I run 2 kicker 8 inch bass tubes. I have a 300 watt Jensen amp with built in crossover. So just bass goes to the subs and i can adjust the power gain on it to tune it in where i need it. I screwed my amp right onto the top on one of the tubes. Takes up a lot of room but they were dirt cheap. If i was starting fresh i'd get a nice 12 or two 10's in a slim box. and smaller but powerful amp.
That's why I'd do something like what I recommended. A sealed 10" or 12" on about 500w would be perfect for what the OP wants.
My dad has run the same basslink in multiple cars for about 6-7 years and it still functions like brand new. But yeah, either way, a mildly powered 8"-10" is what you are looking for.
haven't heard of them. ill have to look that up
I would go with a 10" svc kenwood 500w rms 4 ohm sub in a sealed box to meat the specs for the nice tight accurate bass your gonna want. Then id probably go with the alpine vpower mono block amp due to the D class mono's being more efficent for a subwoofer and the vpowers are fairly small. unless were talkin about a regular cab. then you might want to think about a slim line sub because of your space.
ps. i recommend the kenwoods because they have a good balance of sql for a svc sub

Well I know I said I wanted a powered sub to save space but I ended up with the Kenwood kfc-w3012 sub (50-400 watts rms @ 4 ohms). I'll end up with about a 1.60 sealed box and ill look into the alpine amps. Probably go with a false floor to hide the amp. Hopefully it sounds good.
