radio install help please

2007 explorer sport trac. The Haynes manual says this:

if you are installing a new radio unit on a 2006 or newer model, it will be necessary to extract configuration data to a scan tool beforehand and then reload it after installation. For this reason, it is best left to a dealer service dept or other properly equipped automotive technician.

I'm used to the airbag warning, but this is new. Is this a must or just precautionary?
