Icon5 Single Din Kenwood Decks

Im thinking about getting a new deck to replace the stock one but not sure which I should go with. Heres the choices...

Kenwood KDC-X494 (kdcx494) - Car Stereo In-Dash Receiver at Sonic Electronix - Sonic Electronix

Kenwood KDC-HD545U (kdchd545u) - Car Stereo In-Dash Receiver at Sonic Electronix - Sonic Electronix

I like the second one cause when its on tuner it shows the artist, station etc. I havent seen the excelon in person but Im guessing same concept. Anybody know anything about these two, any advice would help. Thanks

I don't have either of those models but my kenwood unit is ****. Make sure you have a dedicated RCA preout for a sub if younplan yo runnone. Mine doesn't have one and I didn't realize it when I bought it and it sounds lik garbage

I've got the first one you listed. Can't really tell a difference in sound quality but I'm able to play music louder now. Not really sure on what to do next, been thinkin about adding a powered sub but don't have the funds right now. It's a nice unit for the price.

Are you able to read the text when its on tuner? Such as the song artist and radio station?

i may be wrong so dont hold me to this, not every radio station does that,if the station has all that info available then it will display that info.so 3 out of lets say 6 stations you listen to may or may not have that.i think performance of the radio are a bit more important but i can understand why you want that feature too lol.i havent had a kenwood radio in years so i cant comment on their quality now days

I will be second to say the kenwood I owned was garbage. I owned the MP628 very limited options for what I paid, and the sound was always distorted. Sold. Best move I ever made.

Can't beat Pioneer man

I've heard the higher end Kenwoods are better than Pioneers and some Alpines.

The Kenwood eXelon stuff is really good, they've got 4 volt preamp outputs too which is as high as it gets. Good for if you're hooking up any amps to it

Don't worry, from the specs it looks like you bought a very good unit.
if you get sh!tty sound from that unit then your doing something wrong.

I would rock that unit all day.. if i could give up my larger display on my alpine 9857.
your kenwood actually has better specs then my $250 unit

The newest kenwood units, meaning the higher models, are supposedly the best onthe market right now
