i was looking at replacing all my speakers in my 97 reg cab ranger. as i was going through the checkout process crutchfield asked me if i want speaker baffles. how much do these help are they worth the 18 bucks for all the speakers.

 

I dont see why not. In my truck, they really seemed to help the lower mid range sounds.



and a little acoustic fill in the baffle also seems to bring out the bass a little bit more



I can tell you that there is a difference between the baffle with acoustic fill and no baffle

I got mine out an 86 T-Bird, the rear speakers have baffles on them. The local Wrecking (Salvage) yard charged me $5 for the pair.
Or was it an 88,, heck I don't remember. I was a T-Bird and they were on the rear speakers

 

I would like to know about speakers baffles as well. I've been looking into something called a boom mat, which fits around the back of the speaker and supposedly makes it sound better, strips out the vibrations and protects it from water damage as well.

Has anyone tried these things? ( not trying to hijack, but its a similar topic)

 

Same thing that I have in my truck, just a different manufacturer. And as I stated previously, it will help the lower mid range and it will help the bass a little bit.

That link you provided is for 6 x 9 baffles, they won't fit in the Ranger Door well. Get a set for 6 x 8s. Also use a little acoustic fill in the baffle or a little Dacron.

One more thing, Dynomat the door (atleast around where the speaker goes). That will also help alot. Dynomat with the baffles together, will make a noticable difference.

 

I just installed two with my front door speakers that I got from crutchfield.I don't know if it helps much but for $8(for two) I figure WTH.
