i have a 2000 ranger single cab , i am going to replace the stock speakers but i was also wanting to maybe have a sub. the problem is that i need to save all the space i can. i was thinking maybe under the seats or on floorboard between seats? what do you guys think? becuase this would def. have to be custom.

 

they wont fit under the seats. your guna have to buy a truck sub box and get shallow mounted subs.

 

You pretty much stuck with this. Unless of course you want to build a custom box.

if you are a short guy, you could always raise the seats a bit and possibly get enough room for a super shallow mounting 8" sub.


with a single cab, i would just replace door speakers, and not any rear speaker*if they even have any*

also, if the truck is an automatic, theres always the option of mounting a sub between the seat and the dash, on the transmission hump. 8" down firing sub in a ported box would be more than enough

i would personally go with a component speaker, but i am picky about audio stuff.

and a GOOD 4channel amp is all you would need to top off the system
run channel 1 and 2, to the door speakers, 3 and 4 to the sub. and you will have a rockin setup! super clean, and can get super loud without distorting!
and dont let people dog on ya about an 8" woofer, in a small cab, tuned correct, it will give you a full sound. wont get the LOW LOW notes, but not much music has lots of LOW notes. also, if you like rock, or fast beat music, an 8" sub will be able to pound them out real fast.

 

build a custom box or order a small one..and you can buy slimline subs.i think theyre called..theyre about 3 inches in depth..and supposedly sound good.that's what im gonna get soon

 

deffinately build a custom box for the sub! specific built box sounds WAY better than a generic box

 

i just bought a sub box and put a 10 inch type s in it, put it behind the passanger seat, i had to move it up a bit, but anyone that gets in doesnt even realize that its there.

and its ported so it sounds awesome!!!

 

this ideas are exactly whati'm lookign for! what are the requirements for a sub box? i can build a box that fits but what does the sub require so that it sounds good????? what kind of wood? is there any way to use the floor board between the seats and the dash and just build the rest of the box unteh the cab , and water seal it or somthing????

 

i would not build a box under the cab, thats just asking for a headache.

thatsa pretty sweet setup , how well does it hit as far as bass goes? as far as the sub box between the dash and seat , how muodl i keep it from sliding around?

 

bolt/screw some angle iron or something to it and then bolt it to the seat brakets, would be the easiest
