Looking At Getting A New Head Unit...

I want to be able to have my iPod plugged into my stereo.

It will never work with the stock head unit, and i dont like the radio transmitter thing I have...

So, all I need is a good cd changer, preferably one that can do mp3's, too, but it doesnt have to. It needs to have the red/white jacks in the back, so that I can run a cord from the headphone jack of the iPod, into the stereo, like it's an external disc changer...

I have been looking at Alpine...

Maybe this one: http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...y=45&p_main=10

Found this at Crutchfiled.com plugs directly into 1998-up ford 20 pin harness for 9.99. worth a look.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NRqGsiR...D3&search=ipod

***EDIT***

The I figured out you also need to buy this which is an Ipod2car which is 189.99 that you need to plug the Ipod into whichs plugs into the 9.99 harness which plugs into your stock H/U

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NRqGsiR...earch=ipod2car

***EDIT***

Oh yeah and it has to be a CD changer compatible stock H/U

A good friend of mine has that exact HU (the alpine). She's very pleased with it and you can find them for alot cheaper than $200 on ebay im pretty sure. I think you'd be happy with it

the alpine decks are great (even tho i dont have one) but all my friends do it all really depends on what ur going for if ur going just for the ipod with the pre outs in the rear then mostly any deck would be good lol hell u could even use ur stock sytem the sell an adapter for like 20 bucks that puts pre outs on the stock deck i had that for a bit but then i got this

Whatever you do, get an Alpine. They are great with iPods, and the best for sound quality hands down (Unless you are talking thousands of dollars, literally).

I have an eclipse! I like it, but anything but Alpine is frowned upon! But eclipse is easily the best looking cd players, I don't care what Alpine users say, lotsa colorful blinkey lights does not make a cool cd player. Go w/ whatever is cheapest/best, which seems Alpine.

The link Dave gave you (TheManInBlack) is probably the best bet. Or buy that ipod link and another alpine of your preference. That ipod device links into the Alpine head unit, allowing you to control the ipon through your head unit/remote. Otherwise you just need to find one with AUX input, and you would have to play songs through the Ipod interface.

Get the 9847, it's black and will match the interior better. Everything else is the same as the 45. Good choice on HU, can't beat Alpine.

christian that one you first posted only has 2 sets of preouts.. and they're only 2Vs.. i just had my friend buy their CDA-9853.. its really nice and has Alpine's Glidetouch thing on it. it has 3 sets of preouts at 4Volts. we would have gotten the 9855 but the store we were at didnt have any in stock (the only real difference was there was a D Aux. with it and the display was better).

The 9847 was in my truck for a day, step up to the 9851 and you get a remote, 9847 has a remote but it is optional, and 9851 has more controls over the sound
