sytem opinions

well im lookin to spend about $500 or so on a system. in yalls opinions what would be the best setup (such as number and size of subs and amp) and sound the best for that amount of money. i dont really need a system that is too awful loud i would just like some clean deep bass. any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Instead of getting multiple subs and taking up all your space, I would reccomend getting a 400-600 watt rms sub in either a 10 or 12 and an amp that can power it. I have a single 10 JL W6v2 with a 600 watt rms amp powering it and you can hear it from outside the truck easily. Trust me, it is plenty of bass. You could easily pick this sub up off ebay for around $200 and the amp for another $200. The installation, wiring, and enclosure would also have to be considered in the price.

Look for an Image Dynamics IDmax 12 or 10 (can handle 1000W rms) if you want loud and clean.

i had a pioneer 10 inch sub that i got at walmart with one of the walmart "build your own boxes" and i think all that cost a little over 100. then i powered it with a dual 460 watt amp and when that thing was pointed at the floor it shook both seats and you could hear it outside the truck.

Anything Memphis is what I would go with. I got a Memphis mclass sub(700watts) and a memphis amp not sure of power or model number. Sounds awesome. Hooked in Factory radio. To go cheaper but almost as good go with the Jl audiomentioned earlier by someone else.

Go with a kicker 12. I love kicker's subs and amps as they mount any were and can take a beating.

If you have the back doors like I do, then you could go with the option that I'm choosing. I have a nice Kenwood head unit and 4 fosgate 6x8's. The sub setup will most likely be a pair of 8" Fosgate stage 1 or 2's that I will build fiberglass enclosures for to fit in the back doors instead of the pocket that is currently there. Then for now, I'll use the alpine 4ch (briged 2ch) that I have to power the 8's. Eventually, the alpine will power the 6x8's and I'll get a nice little 2ch 150X2 amp for the subs. (I'll hide the amps in a box on the rear floor since the seats are currently out of the truck.)

Oh well, just my $0.02 :)

Kicker is so much better then the JL's. I have heard a ton of JL's in bmw's and honda's,mercedes and such while working with my dad at a dealership. They dont seem to stack up to his two 15inch kicker's that will rattle his megacab.

u say that.. ^ but thats two 15's... how many subs where in the "bmw's honda's and mercedes". no really comparable unless they all had two 15's :-/ jl= very nice... i personally have a premier champion series 12" and a profile 700w amp which bumps HARD
