thinkin of pickin up an iPod....
but can I hook it up to the factory head unit ? Ive seen a few kits around but Im not exactly sure if its compatible with the ford factory cd player my truck comes with ... Anyone have any advice ? I love the idea of having all my music with me at all times but definitly not if its gonna cost me for an iPod + aftermarket head unit + iPod 2 Car kit... oh forgot to mention .. Ive seen it done on a stock GM headunit on a 2002 Blazer but never on a Ford .. I dont wanna spend all the money for the stuff if I cant use it cuz I doubt I'd ever use an iPod for anything other then in my truck
there are many different adapters. i just dug through my junk drawer and found an old cd player tape adapter...works fine for me...for now. if you dont have a tape player, get a fm module. but i will say none of the options out there will not sound as good as the deck with the ipod car kit.
FM mods SUCK!!!!!!!!!!
I had one stop working on me after 3 days and my friends have cheaper ones that the sound quality would be better from a phonograph.
the tape-CD sound quality is a little better but still junk to me.
I already had a Pioneer headunit and the connector from Pioneer to ipod cost me 14 bucks and sound quality was perfect.
I dont know if the factory radio has audio in, but thats all you need. If the factory radio has a plug hole for adding multi CD changers then there are Bus adapters that will change that to an audio in that run 15-20 bucks.

there is a cable that i think is just under 100 bucks that makes your factory head unit think the ipod is a disk changer... so that the seek button changes folder and the track button changes songs or something like that.... i would look into that... that way you could just throw it in your glove box and be done with it and control everything fron the head unit...
