I've done some searches however there is not a lot of talk about RDS which I love. Anyone know of many stock units that will fit a 98 ranger with the 16pin plug that have RDS?

I have one from a 99 Explorer. It has CD/cassette, RDS, SSV, controls for remote 6-disk. These HU's have a known problem with the display fading/disappearing but it can be fixed in most cases.

RDS: Radio Data System it's not used to it's potential here in the states and w/ all the new stuff it's not really needed either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Data_System

Just for snits and giggles, here's one of two known prototypes of the radio Bob has. (yep, it's fully functional):

The Mach 360 from the 2005 Escape has RDS but you have to get the appropriate harness plug from scoshe, metra etc because it's not the 16 pin, but it's easy to do.
