CB distance

I always wondered what the distance for a mid priced CB radio is?

Im running a cobra Cb 4 watt with a 4ft wilson att and so is my buddy and the range is only about a 1-11/2 mile depending on the terrian. If some else is running an amp you can hear them from 10 miles with my cb.

also a lot of it depends on the antenna and its placement
