I detail cars,trucks and motorcycle all the time. The best product for degreasing is Gunk:gel degreaser also S100 motorcycle cleaner works well. Leave it on for atleast 15 min. and only on a cold engine!!!!!
CD2 is a great engine detailer but I believe that the new eagle one is a little bit better.
I wouldn't recomend using the Aromor All detailer. This picks up to much dirt. If you want a little less shine you can wipe down the engine.

 

my engine actually hardly ever gets dirty. only if i drive thru the biggest of puddles. but it could be POURING rain, on the thruway, with puddles on the road, and the engine will only get wet if i open the hood.

 

ask anyone thats seen my truck, its NEVER dirty, but its not super shiny either, its the dry look, yet uber clean too, and i only detail it like 3x a yr, if that. but i could go offf roading and it wont get dirty.

see that ugly rusty thingy under the 4.0 SOHC , use some rust oleum black primer, itll make it look better, mines been painted since the truck was a day old, i have only repainted it once in 35K miles

and one more thing, your air intake tube is still dirty, use an old tooth brush and clean it up a lil bit, other than that, it looks great.

 

yea all my frinds say mines always clean, when it really hasent been washing in 2 weeks, haha... I just do a good job where I park and when I wash it....

that wont change the warranty at all, and brake warranty is only for 1 year or 12,000 miles...

good napa pads are around 80 bucks i have had mine for over a year and they have hardly worn, brake good too.

Does engine brite work on dried mud and other stuff? Because I have scrubed my engine down with soap and water and the stuff is still there.

Hey stop taking pics of my engine bay! lol That looks exactly like mine, with the K&N stick and everything.

 

I detailed cars for 4 years and we sprayed the engine with water and didnt conver anything. we did it with the vehicle running sometimes, never hurt anything. That engine brite stuff looks good for a while, but in my experience it seems to collect alot of dust.

 

gosh that's awesome. so some of you guys don't cover anything at all? just pop the hood and spray away? interesting....

as far as the brake dust, change em to a ceramic brake pad, changed mine about a week ago and haven't seen a spec. they're supposed to last longer too. sorry to change the subject guys, just wanted to help out.

Yeah it doesnt hurt anything to spray water under the hood. What do you think happens when you drive in the rain? I always keep it running though. If you have a distrubtor and seperate coil ignition system I would cover the coil. If you get water on the coil contacts it may short and not start for a while. (been there done that) And dont get water in the carburetor either. But for most newer cars, just spray away.

I start the engine and spray it down with Eagle One heavy duty degreaser. Let it sit a minute or so, scrub the realy dirty spots with a mit or brush, then rinse it all away with the water hose.
Then while its still wet I spray on this water based dressing we use at work, not sure what its called off-hand. Spray it all over the place, close the hood and let it run til its warm then cut it off and let it dry. Once its dried wipe of the excess with a dry towel. Shines like new, doesnt collect dust.
