I went off-roading yesterday in the mudd for awhile and around here mudd isnt mudd, its more of a clay the packs and sticks. Does anyone have any good ways of getting off the underside of your truck. Right now Iv just been poking it with a stick and pressure washing it but its not working to well.

 

Clean it before it dries or set a sprinkler up under it

 

Hmm sprinkler would be a good idea but they wouldnt be able to get the wheel wells n such.

 

I go to one of the DIY car washes. The coin operated ones. In Plano it's all clay too, and it's a beast to get off.

yeah just keep spraying that stuff with water. It will eventually saturate the mud and it will all come off, but it will just take a few "tries"

 

Thats what Iv been doin so far but its really slow. I wish we had more of that wharton watery mudd than clay. Clay is such a ***** thats its not worth it if your only gonna go once then have to clean it. Stupid me

ive tried the sprinkler idea... worx decently... but the best way that ie found is the DIY car wash.. high pressure rinse for 5 mins and your done! (just dont get caught beinig really muddy

 

this is what I do...

Step 1 use the pressure washer on your truck. Under and above. Just to get the big chunks off.
Step 2 put a sprinkler that goes back and fort under your truck..Go find something to do and move it every 20 - 30 Mins.
Step 3 Put on you swim suit. Grab the hose and crawl underneath your truck and have at it.
Step 4 Use the powerwasher with soap and water

 

I've got to do that too. Though all my mud is frozen to the truck. Have to pressure wash it with hot water...

 

One of my buddies at the FD made this awesome contraption. He took a piece of 2" iron pipe about 6 feet long and drilled lots of little holes along it to make it like the bar on one of those oscillating sprinklers. There are little feet on both ends to hold it from rolling. One end is capped. The other end has threading to hook up to a fire hose.

So we pull out a fire truck, hook the hose up to the thing and crank the 1000 gallon per minute pump up to about 100psi. Then you drive over the big *** sprinkler. It will make your under body SPOTLESS!

I think i still keep finding chunks on my truck and i went like 3 weeks ago the same clay crap as you can see in my avatar ( i need to change that) its in my doors definately wasnt worth the fun i had in the mud. cough cough 22's now hehe gotta keep plugging that. no more mud screw the clay!!

I would say hook up your pressure washer to a heated water source. I always find heat and water can work wonders more then just plain cold water. I think of it like doing the dishes. Spray cold water on the caked on stuff and it does nothing, but spray hot water on them and voila, you almost dont have to wash them.. hahaha..

But really when my truck is loaded with salt i take it down to the coin car wash because the water is heated. Cleans everything, just bring lots of coins. :D

Once it's off though, spray tire shine or baby oil in your wheel wells and on the under carriage. You won't have the mud problem again.

I use tire shine on everything in the wheel wells, and it makes cleaning the mud off that much easier.

Just a tip.


As for getting the crap off........just keep poking and scrubbing.....low volume, high pressure is the best for pressure washing. Have fun!!

I spray WD40 all over my quad the day before a race then wipe it off with a towel. The mud just kinda slids off during a race and it protects againts rust. Kinda the same thing

 

Heard that one too......thatd be a lil expensive to cover the underside of a truck! LoL!

 

Gas Pressure washer......even better, a hot-wator pressure washer.
