well i removed my pin strips now i have to go about the task of removing the glue left behind any 1 done this b4 or have any ideas?

 

They sell stuff at autozone called sticker shock all you have to do is spray it on and the glue will wipe off.

I used a die grinder with a rubber wheel on it.

 

i used a powerwasher to remove the stripes

then for the glue i used charcoal lighter fluid with great results
be sure to wash the truck afterwards though

 

I used Goo-Gone. It took some elbow-grease, but it worked well.

 

yeah ive used goo gone with good results, also a good coat of wax afterwords

 

The rubber wheel works great and its fast.

 

when you guys removed your pin stripes, did you notice the paint was much brighter underneath, or did a good coat of wax blend it in? i'm thinking of removing mine, but I dont want it to look like there was a stripe there....

I took mine off but it didn't leave any glue behind. I also used a hair dryer to heat them up though. After I just put some goo gone all over it anyways then hit it with a coat of wax, didn't notice it being lighter or darker than the rest of the truck, but mine is an 02 so I doubt it has faded at all, and it sure did look a hell of a lot better. Hit it with a coat of wax and see if it makes a difference.

Seeings how your's is a 96, it might be a little more faded. Do you have any pics of it befor and after?

 

all that stuff will work but depending on how old or long those stripes have been on they will def leave a shadow in the paint. The only way to fix that is too repaint. even then i have had to primer over where old pin stripes used to be so it wouldn't bleed through the new paint.

 

yeah, it happened to my 01 ranger when i took them off, its just fade from the sun really. just good wax job should blend it enough. it is only really noticeble up close tho.

Yes that's what I used for mine. Just make sure that the paint doesn't get too hot. And be prepared for some sore thumbs.

 

This. Then a full car wash with dish detergent and then a clay bar and then a good wax.

 

the best product for removing adheisive that i have EVER used is from ZEP, it's called Big Orange. this stuff works like you would not believe!

oh man, i've been meaning to take the dealer sticker off mine, and i've had it alot longer than 2 days...
