Touch up paint.

Well on my truck i have some scratches, and some paint chips... i was wondering would Wal-mart touch up paint be ok?? will it last?? im just trying to touch it up a little so it will last awhile before winter anyways, so i can save up and get a nice new paint job.. but i mean for now would it be ok and will it last somewhat awhile if i used touch up paint on my truck?? i have some paint chips, im not going to lie some are big but most little small ones.. and i want to cover up some surface rust.. any opinions and tips please, let me know. i want to get my truck looking like it did in 95.... thanks... oh and its not a real bad eye sore, it just has some little bumps and bruises..

Sand it, then wet sand it and don't mask it off so you don't create sharp lines and try to blend it in a little lighter around the edges. Make sure to use a good sandable primer on the chips, that will build it up a little and blend it in with the surrounding area better as well.

for wet sanding just soak some fine grit paper in a bucket of water when it starts to curl its nice and wet use a hose to keep the truck wet to and just take it slow till ya get the hang of it, nothing to it really. then just make sure you dry everything really good and some wax and grease remover to make sure theres nothing that will make the paint peel after you lay it on
