03 2.3L Clutch replacement help

I replaced the clutch and slave cylinder in my 03 ford ranger last weekend, and as of now I still cannot get it to start. I did the replacement over the course of 2 days but after installing, the shifter wont go into gear and the truck wont start. The only thing I have not done is bleed the slave cylinder, but the slave was completely out of oil before I did the clutch replacement, and the truck still started and ran fine. So my question is what could make it unable to shift or start? When I was tightening the clutch pressure plate, I did not torque to spec, as I completely forgot to.. I tightened them in a star pattern with a ratchet quite tight. any ideas?
