Cruznlife has done it a few times. He was pushing over 400hp to the wheels. Unfortunately his ranger recently became extra crispy. :(

you will want to change over to forged internals instead of the stock hyperuetectic pistons and powdered metal rods, also the compression may be a tad high for any kind of serious boost(or use race gas) , so in the end its cheaper and easier to use the motor from a turbo coupe since the motor has to come out anyways

PS- welcome to RF

I thought Cruzin has a 98 Ranger, which runs the old Lima 2.3. I'm pretty sure no one has tried a turbo or blower on the new Duratechs yet.

Cody does have a good point about the new technology in the 2001+ 2.3's. I'm not sure they are as durable as the old iron engines. These things are all aluminum, and it wouldn't take much heat to boil the gaskets. I'd look at superchargers instead, and I'd still go very carefully. At 3000 rpm, the secondary butterflies open in the intake which would make the turbo surge really interesting.

Cruzin was runnin a lima 2.3 long block on his last turbo set up....i don't think he ever got it on teh dyno but 400 was his goal when he was building the motor and after he was done w/ it he was thinkin' he might pass the 500 hp mark w/ the proper tune. I heard a year or 2 ago that there was a guy on turbofrod.org that had a turbocharge duratec but could never find infor on it. There have been a few peopel that boost teh lima motors w/ very little boost...i think 5-6. Peoeple also use the internals froma turbo motor and put it in a n/a lima motor. But a few thing ur going to have to thing about is to turbo ur duratec it's gonna cost alot of $. Custom internals and custome header for sure....not to mention the ecu issue. But do some research and you may figure somethin' out. good luck
