2003 2.3 pcm to 2004+
I am thinking about swapping my 2003 2.3l pcm for a newer version 2004+ since I am deleting the runner flaps. What else what I need to delete, swap, change to make this viable? From what I've read I would need to delete the imrc and egr?.. It's in the shop now getting all seals and gaskets redone, the runner flaps deleted as well as k&n intake, msds header, and dynomax cat back exhaust. I also have a jet performance module that is going on it.. is there even a point to it. I use it as a daily and work truck. Just wanting it to run as best as it can.

No wouldn't work
In 2004 Ford change all the Rangers to digital dash(HEC Cluster) this was a totally different cab wiring set up, so not plug and play
The HEC Cluster is also "married" to it's PCM in 2004-2011, so one won't work without the other, this was done to prevent people from swapping in lower mile odometers
And in 2004 PATS(passive anti-theft system) was taken out of the PCM and put in the new Cluster, so another layer of issues
Getting it work would be very very......................................very hard
I would check with Ford PCM programmers, they should be able to delete IMRC and heated thermostat test, also give it a better tune
And much cheaper, but not cheap
Call local Speed Shops or Dyno Tune places in your area, they will know people, or do, Ford PCM programming
