2008 running different

I have a 2008 with a duratec 2.3l. When I am driving down the road and I press the clutch in and my truck will jump up rpm to about 2100, sometimes it will go to 3000, and it won't settle till I come to a complete stop. Is this normal?

It holds it to help you shift I guess.

Thanks.

helps with down shifting. if it bothers you some people have created their own gaskets with smallers holes on the IAC to help keep the RPMs down a bit.

What are you doing shifting below 2k rpm anyway? Mine just takes a little while to come down, but will drop to about 1200 while moving, then about 900 when stopped. Sounds like yours is set just a little high, might wanna ask the dealer about it.

I might have to try the gasket idea on the IAC prob wouldn't take long. I am gonna take it to the dealer tomorrow and if the say it is normal I am gonna stop by O Reillys to get some gaskets.

So I finally got time to take it to the dealer and apparently it was a bad IAC valve. I thought it was weird being that the truck is practically new. I am just glad the warranty covered the cost and she feels brand new again :)
