Dynomax catback exhaust
Hey, I just blew my muffler apart on my truck..LOL 02 ranger 2.3l std trans.
Im looking at getting a cat back from dynomax for my truck the only thing
that im concerned about is a loss of power by going to a 2-1/2 in"
exhaust from a 2" exhaust... everyone has told me i will have a power gain not a power loss.. what do you guys think?? will i have a gain or a loss????
one thing i must say is that replacement parts are 75.00 more than a cat back from dynomax..

It's funny so many people say putting a free flowing exhaust (& intake) do NOTHING AT ALL for performance (or mpg's).
I'm just speaking from experience. Putting a cat back system on an otherwise stock vehicle just isn't going to do much, at least not on an I4 Ranger. I never expected any big performance gains, I just wanted a nicer exhaust tone and appearance, which is what I got.
For those with a 4 banger (so many V6 guys on the 4-cyl forum) every little bit helps....and you will feel it. And the Thrush Turbo does make a 4 banger sound MUCH better.
I may have to start a thread about this??? Are all aftermarket manufactures just completely lying about performance gains w/ there products (false advertising)?
Or V6 guys that are all armchair 4 banger experts (never actually owning one)? I hear a-lot on 'noise' degrading 4 cyl. here.

I did own a 2001 2.5 I4 with a full Dynomax cat back system...it drove the same before and after, it just sounded nicer.

Where is your proof that a stock I4 Ranger will get any performance gain from a muffler?

dynomax blows big chunks ... if you want a stock replacement get it ... other wise i reccomend a flowmaster 40 with 2.5" pipes (i replaced the dynomax muffler with a flowmaster) ... heres a couple of videos of both setups on my 99 2.5
