air/fuel ratio hook up

hey guys. i'm looking for some help. i recently bought a 02 ranger 2.3 and i bought a air fuel ratio gage to try and optimize my fuel economy. i went to hook it up and noticed that this has a 4 wire o2 sensor. i was wondering if anyone on here has any idea what wire to connect the gage to or any suggestions on how to figure it out..

first the gauge will never be accurate if installed to a factory o2 sensor.

second it has to be before the first converter.

the best way to hook this up is to get the sensor kit .

Search for wideband o2 sensors, and wideband o2 sensor kits.

summit has it, its universal fits all cars/trucks, gas.

you will have to weld in a "bung" in the exhaust pipe before the first converter.

this is the best way to hook the gauge up

An ordinary "rich/lean" A/F display gauge can be hooked up to the gray/light blue wire either near the O2 sensor or near the PCM pin 60. It makes a nice light show but won't be of much use for optimizing fuel economy.

A wide band A/F meter will display the actual A/F ratio and it requires that a dedicated wide band oxygen sensor be added to the exhaust upstream of all cats. WB A/F meters cost much more than the rich/lean type.
