Auto 3.73?

Hey guys, I'm curious if anyone with a newer Duratec 2.3 Auto has 3.73 gears and if so what kind of mpg's are you getting? I have an 07 2.3 Auto with 4.10's and the ratio seems bad for highway driving, just looking to improve the mpg's on the highway.

Why would you want to make it slower? I don't think 3.73s or 3.55s are a good idea. You might pick up 2MPGs.. Its not worth it.

Agreed you might gain 2 mpg's on the highway but you will probley loss more than 2 mpg's city. Your truck will be more gut less and trying to pass on the highway will not be fun. Ontop of that more stress to the drivetrain. If you take it to a shop to get done your lookin in the ballpark from $750-$1000 parts and labor.

since your truck is a 07 pickup a diablosport tuner part number U7157.You can get it from Lmperformance for $275 i will give you alittle extra mpg's.

The cost of the install is not a problem, my uncle has a race car shop and agreed to set the backlash. I'm looking to find if anyone has some solid numbers, not opinions as the gears are less than 200 for brand new gears. I'm going to be taking it apart soon anyways to put in a LSD so gears at the same time is my plan.

And I don't really care if it is gutless, it's gutless already, may as well have the mpg's too.

My mind isn't made up, I'm trying to find out if anyone has 3.73's and can give an actual solid number not a guess. My mind is made up that if I am going to do it, it will be done at the same time as the LSD and not making myself tear the rear end apart multiple times when it could be done all at once.
