Bought a 2005 Ranger with a 2.3L, looking for a little more performance

Hey guys, I joined over the summer when I was looking to buy a Ranger but I just now got around to buying one. It's a 2005 with 80k and a 5 speed. I'm looking to get a little more power out of it. I read that Comp makes a cam for it, has anybody used one of these before and how were the results? Also, how did it affect MPG because this is my DD and I make a 250 mile trip back and forth to school a few times per semester. Any other performance mods worth my time? I don't want to screw around with intakes--they hardly do anything.

Here's a crappy pic of it
