did i @#%$ up?
2004 2.3 .... i 86ed the mas and tubing and have straight air to the plennum (with a filter for debris of course) things ran great for a while with noticeable gains in performance. (and noise). someone was nice enough to steal my cats when i left the truck out on the beach after to many whiskey sours. so now, in goes 2.5 straight pipe to a flowmaster 40. loud as ****!!! another performance boost. i then noticed oil around the plug valleys one day, and did a valve cover gasket replacement. intake gasket as well. vacuum problems arose from there. i am pretty sure my egr is shot since i have 210,000 on the old girl., but what a pain in the ***. new plug wires, new fuel filter, new injectors, new plugs, new coil pack, 60 lbs of pressure at the rail. i blocked off the egr tube to the intake, put a breather on the pcv and blocked that port on the intake as well. the 2 coolant lines are now married and out of the way. now, 60% of the time, the motor wont accept the gas pedal when taking off. (gotta clutch it and rev). major backfires. is the computer confused with all the mods, or did i screw the pooch? anyone with any tips or ideas would be great. mattbones573@gmail.com
