Do Stock Rangers Come With K&N Air Intakes?

I popped the hood of my 2003 Ford Ranger FX4 when I first got it and noticed that it had a K&N Air Intake, I got it 1 year used off a lease return, so I found it highly unlikely that it would have been a mod...but I also found it unlikely that a K&N air filter would be put in in the factory.

Now that I just started thinking about it, I figured yall might know.

...So do they?

It was definitely a mod by the previous owner. There is no way that came from the factory.

As a matter of fact, some dealer with there nose up there butts might tell you it will void your warranty. But that all depends on the dealer. And no, it will not void the warranty unless you over oil it and it causes problems with the MAF or something like that.

Alright cool, thanks for the information.

I wouldnt have guessed that the previous leaser would have done any modifications.

I guess he did put a bug guard on and a crappy drop in bed liner, since my purchase of it I have removed both of those...But I will for sure be keeping the K&N Filter...Thank you previous leaser!

Why would you mod a leased vehical ? Or at least not take it back off and return it to stock before returning the truck ? That just seems like a stupid waste of money to me. I mean you could return it to stock and sell your mods on ebay or something and get some of your money back.

Yeah, once I get home from work today I will, 6/7 hours and I will get some up. I have a whole folder of pictures that I took this weekend, got it all cleaned up and pur-dy that I need to upload.

I guess the guy that leased it before I bought it was some sort of landscaper or something, because I bought it ~1.5 years old and he had already put like 30000 miles on it. But it isnt a big deal, because I only put about <500 miles a month on it, so it will get back to the appropriate mileage within a year or so.

Here is a couple pictures, they are pretty crappy because it was really dark outside, but you can see the K&N logo.

I just popped the hood like a week ago to check fluids and such and noticed it, I havent done any investigating on it yet, but I thought I should ask if they come stock, I guess they dont.

Thanks guys,

they just added a drop in filter...the intake system has a smooth black tube and a conical filter...still it saves you about $50.
