egr block

howdie, i have a 2006 ranger with the the 2.3 L. its got the basic mods done. chip, intake exhaust, bigger injectors but my last project was blocking the egr valvle. well it was a success, i gained more power and maybe some efficiency but arround a week later the emission light came on. so i reset the ecu (just by disconecting the battery for 5 min) and it dissapeard. A week later the light showed up again. any suggestions?

nope.

sell your "chip" and buy a tuner and get a custom tune done. can take care of your egr problem and will be a lot better than the chip.

X-cal are good, sct are good. Rouge performance and bama chips are well known and liked.

if you really wanna "block" the egr off take 6 sheets of 4"x2" duct tape and stick them to each other to make a thick rectangle of tape. measure bolt distance on the egr, cut same holes in tape. place between block and egr and i guess itd be blocked off right?

this is incorrect, the EGR's job is to recirculate exhaust gases(EGR=exhaust gas recirculation). this in theory is supposed to cool down the combustion chamber as these gases take up available space in the intake manifold and reduce the amount of air in the chamber. Less air in the combustion chamber means that the fuel mixture richens and cools the chamber. It is a good theory, but in reality does not function as intended.

this is what the guys do on my mazda boards. Absolutely love this mod

I've been running this way for over a year now.

You also have the option as others have suggest to simply turn the valve off with a tuner.
