is the ford focus 2.3l interchangeable?

Can't find a good used ranger engine. Is the ford focus 2.3l duratec interchangeable with the ranger 2.3l? there seem to be more used focus engines available.

I also see that some ford escapes have the 2.3l duratec. Can I use one of them in my ranger??

Surely there are some mechanics here that can answer this one please
Thanks

Thanks 03edge
yep, it sounds like they know their stuff! This is driving me nuts! I just wanna put a newer 4cyl. engine in my 2002 ranger becuase mine has 225000 miles and knocks like crazy. but all I can find are 2001-2002 used engines.(just as old and worn as mine) Did they stop using the 2.3l 4cyl. in rangers after 2002? I love my little truck and wanna keep it, but where can I find a replacement engine??

I haven't looked into having someone rebuild it. Sounds expensive! I looked into buying a rebuilt engine...about 2300 bucks!
as far as I can tell, they were still using that 2.3l duratec in the ranger up through 2011, so I'm not sure why I can't find an newer, low miles one in a junkyard. Maybe I'm missing something?
Another thing I found interesting is; the Haynes repair manual says the 2.3l duratec is considered un-rebuildable. If that's the case, how is it that there are rebuilt 2.3l engines for sale through reputable suppliers?

Hmm, I'm not a master at engine rebuilds or the 2.3l but my best guess would be that it has an aluminum block? I'm guessing the remanufacured ones might have never been damaged, and gaskets were replaced... Difficult to say with my knowledge, hopefully someone else will be able to answer that one

What about waiting for the new Mustang 2.3L ecoboost? That's the one I have my eyes on.

Ditto to ecoboost. As far as the focus... Difrent head set up I'm shure. I haven't looked to far into it myself because custom parts for the 2.3 are not easy to come by. I'm waiting for the ecoboost. if I remember rite it has over 300hp. And it's ecoboost so you get the gas miles with it. Worth the wait.
