Help with belt pulley?
Sorry guys, I'm new to vehicles and am trying to learn this stuff and I know I'm gonna sound like an idiot but better late then never right? Anyway I was doing some sensor cleaning and when the truck was at idle, I noticed the triangular section on on this unit here would turn on and spin every 20 seconds for a couple seconds and then turn off. I think this is the A/C compressor but the A/C wasn't on. Any help?

The A.C. compressors are only truly "off" when the fan selector switch is in the "off" position. It doesn't need to be on A.C. or Max A.C. to run. It will come on automatically in either defrost mode (dash only or dash and floor) and when in regular vent modes. It's used to dry the air inside the cab not just cool the air. I would double check that the switch is in the OFF position and check it again. If it's still engaging at that point I believe it could be the clutch switch but im not an A.C. expert. I just know these particular year rangers have the annoying feature of the A.C. compressor not having a distinct off mode when you just want to turn the fan or heat on.
