Hose at front of 2.3

I popped my hood for the first tme the other day. At the front of the engine, there is a hose that I think it comes off the radiator. It is at the top and not too long. The only problem is it has a peice of weed eater string holding it back from hitting the pulleys. Does anyone know if there is a strap that holds this hose back or could this possibly just be the wrong hose then.

Yep, that's the upper radiator hose. No, there isn't a bracket or anything that holds it normally. You're not missing anything either. I'd say get rid of the weed-eater string and check clearance around the belt.

How is this the first time you've popped the hood on a '95 Ranger?

That hose has been replaced.
A It is darker than the intake tube.
B There is an adjustable clamp where it connects to the radiator instead of a spring clamp.
C From this angle it looks as though the thermostat end is higher than the radiator end.
It may not be the correct hose but close enough , hence the tie back.

edit
IMHO

Take off the weed eater string and then loosen the hose slightly and reposition it so it don't hit anything. Who ever put it on most likely never bothered to make sure it had clearance all around.

Nice observations! That being said, I would recommend cutting a little bit of hose off the Thermostat end. That will drop that end and provide better clearance.
